I am a father of three very smart kids in California. I have to tell this story because as a father myself I am sort of very proud to their achievements.
My lovely wife Lutt was really upset every time she was left at home because my three kids who were in their younger years at that time in 1978 were very naughty and they always quarrel with each other. I cannot also find time to discipline them while they were very young because I was so busy and occupied with my job. I was a division chief at that time of a very big liquor company in California. But occasionally during Sunday when we had time together we ate out and took some unwinding in the many theme parks we have visited. I noticed that my kids were kind of fascinated in sports. The eldest John would always love to shoot a ball, Mark also liked to play chess and my youngest son Alfredo would always love to do some billiards.
When they were already in their high school years, I took the decision of enrolling them in a military school. I was thinking that because they were very naughty and smart kids they would do well when they become members of the United States army. That was really my idea of introducing them to a military school so that they can have more time to decide to themselves to do service to the country. At least, when they become members of America’s elite forces, there would be big chances of changing their attitudes.
Later, I was kind of amazed when I saw my kids joining sports activities. In fact, my eldest became a varsity player in the school. When I chanced upon them and watch their game in the school I was more excited because they have become sportsmen like me. I thought they would become bad attitude youngsters in the streets.
I know I was not able to properly discipline my kids because of very limited time. Without me knowing they would still change their bad behaviors. Now I realized how important it would be if we would enroll our kids in a military school. Truly, the mission of the school to help teens and parents is what made me decide to enroll them without discussing further the cost it would take me.
The ASVAB test is much like the SAT/ACT test that students take for entry into college-level education. The ASVAB tests recruits with their knowledge of basic reading, writing, mathematics, mechanical, and logic-solving reasoning to evaluate the IQ and intelligence to make sure that they can handle complex tasks such as operating a tank, vessel, aircraft, or any other expensive machinery. While not many fail the test, it is still a process every military member must go through before they can initialize basic training.

In fact, in many countries in the US, students are required to take the mandatory one year military training before proceeding to their respective careers.
The military schools are also best options for parents that are not capable of properly disciplining their kids because of busy office jobs. Many of them are also assured by the schools to take care of their children while they are working. Mr Schultz is the father of two boys enrolled at the University of Liverpool few decades back and he said the school was really giving good education and discipline to many students. During his children’s school days he was very busy with his jobs and he cannot monitor their activities. Until one day a friend told him to enroll his boys in a military school so that they will learn many things and value discipline on their lives. Mr Schultz finally decided to enroll them so that his problem on properly disciplining them while they’re young could be shared by the school. True to his plan, the school had successfully shaped his kids behaviors and they are now both professionals.
The father said his decision was right. Had he not enrolled his boys in military schools, they would have not been grown as good citizens. For him, the military schools are the perfect example of disciplinary institutions in the country helping many parents in the US. Although he admits that it is also his responsibility to discipline his children, the proper education they need must be given by any school that follows its mission of shaping the child in his formative years.
When enlisting to any branch of the military, whether it be Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, or Coast Guard; the first step to enlistment in any volunteer military is to see a recruiter. These are senior enlisted members that have served their time in their appropriate branch and now maintain a job of making sure that there are enough people coming in to consolidate all the members that are getting out.
With my experience, I came in to a small office where a man dressed in service uniform was sitting at a desk ready to speak with me. He was polite, nice, and very eager to ask any questions I had concerning the Air Force and what life was like. In all honesty, recruiters have a tendency to sugar coat a lot of facts to make them seem more appealing to join; for example, while the education benefits with the military are really nice, it isn’t a completely free program like recruiters told us they were. We still need to pay for books, taxes, and any other fees that come with being a normal college student. The only difference being we don’t pay tuition. If that was told to me originally, it could have made me hesitate to join, but my recruiter knew all the right things to make me feel confident about joining. That was his job, not to lie about facts, but to make them seem more appealing.
While that may not make sense initially, think of it this way: who really wants to be a part of an organization whose made objective is war? That’s precisely what the military is, but every United States soldier, sailor, marine, and airman will tell you that we are not war fighters, we are defenders of American Liberty, because that’s what recruiters have led us to believe.

Children often have only a low self-esteem – at the latest when they reach puberty at public schools. They feel uncomfortable with themselves and are in search of a role model. They often feel lost because they have to start making important decisions concerning to their future career on their own. Also they are troubled with the pressure on school which takes important time the children could have used to think calmly about their future and their goals in life. Another factor for a low self-esteem could be a certain disorientation in life and a complicated background.
In fact – at an early age children start to influence not just their career but also their lives. But how is a child supposed to do that in a proper way when feeling insecure?
Often it just helps to give a child a structure so that it has the time to concentrate on more important things. Unfortunately most children and also their parents have problems with finding such a structure – even more with a consequent practice of it. In case a child motivated to change it’s lifestyle but is not able to reach this without help the attendance of a military school could be a solution for this issue.
Military schools are often also boarding schools. There the children have a structure from the first day on. First of all such a structure keeps the students grounded. Due to certain pressure fells off from them and they are now able to concentrate fully on important things like their school education. Children get better in what they do and gain more self-confidence.
In a military school it is not just about a military education, basically it is about the preparation of life. An important part of the military school education is for example teamwork. And there children not only learn to work in a team. This is more about learning to accept, tolerate understand and deal with opinions and characters that are different to theirs.
After their time at a military school, children come home changed. They continue living with a structured everyday life because they have learned which advantages this involves. Also they are confident and open-minded and have highly-developed people skills. They are aware of the consequences of their actions and act well-advised. Before attending a military school they had barely any idea what to head for. Afterwards they are confident enough to make decisions and there are able to concentrate on reaching their goals.

Besides the personal development the children get a proper education in general. As undisciplined and bad behaviour and the disrespect of rules and authorities is not accepted at military schools you can be sure, that the students fully focus on their education – intellectually and physically. This offers the possibilities to go to a high school and also to choose a successful military career.
Either way, a period at a military school supports the development of personal skills and clears the way for a successful personal and job-related future.
Many parents struggle over the decision how to help their troubled children. In our fast-paced and hectic world many children get into difficulty with schooling. What can parents do for their children to help them? Some parents tend to choose private schools instead of public schools in order to assure themselves that their children are safe. While private schools offer safe environment and good academic performance, they normally cost a small fortune. The best option would be to offer your troubled teen a structured and safe environment where s/he will be able to learn from experience respect and order.
Militaty school is very structured boarding school where children have a regular school year with summer vacation. Some military schools offer a day student discount for those who attend school during the day. Military schools are appropriate for students who do not show any major behavioral problems, but only need more structure in ther lives. Students have to take usually entrance exams and are required to pass with an average to above average academic background.
Be aware that military schools generally have a zero tolerance for students with behavioral problems such as disrespect for people in authority, low school attendance, poor grades, etc. If your child has any emotional and behavioral issues, including ADD/ADHD, clinical depression or ODD, it would be better to look for other educational options.
However, military schools are particularly appropriate for troubled teens who struggle with behavioral issues and require structured environment. Generally, military schools do not offer an in-school treatment programs. Should this kind of services are contracted through a private practice while the teen is at a military school, schools normally are not equipped for teens with major emotional and behavioral issues. Moreover, military schools do not provide a solid follow-up program and support system, which would be vitally important for troubled teens and their parents. Programs of a confrontational nature have been proven to lead to more problems for troubled children.
The majority of military schools cost about $3,000 to $5,000 a month for a nine-month period. Most of them require the entire nine-month tuition up-front. Some military schools may allow you to break the full tuition up into 2-4 payments. Uniforms and other costs will cost about $1,000 to $4,000, the amount will be required to be paid up-front with the tuition.
Military schools’primary goal is to provide structure for your troubled teens preparing them for college-life with the addition of military-type discipline. If your children have some behavioral issues, but are generally well-motivated and seeking to excel and explore new opportunities, this is the type of school you are looking for.
