Job specification
Since many times the lives of military personnel are in danger during hazardous missions and assignments they sometimes depend on survival equipment to protect them from harm. However, these survival gears also need careful maintenance. To fully support the program, the military organization hires the services of Survival Equipment Specialists. They are considered enlisted personnel in the military and their main functions are to maintain the usability of survival equipment such as aircraft life support, sea rescue gears and parachutes.
Role
The usual duties and responsibilities of Survival Equipment Specialists in the military chain of command include:
• Conduct inspection on parachutes for tangled lines and rips
• Safely pack the parachutes as a good preparation for use during missions
• Spearhead in the repair of life rafts as a safety measure for emergency situations
• Conduct regular testing on oxygen regulators
• Maintain aircraft with many safety provisions such as fire extinguishers, flares and other survival provisions available
• Conduct training on crews on the basics of survival equipment usage
• Conduct repairs on ruined and malfunctioning gadgets including upholstery

The civilian Survival equipment specialists work in survival equipment companies, airlines, private rescue groups operated by businessmen, and several other business establishments. Their functions are only the same with that of the military.
