The Recruiting Specialists are enlisted personnel in the military organization. They are responsible making actual visitations to present the present thrust of the military organization and how it affects positively to the peace and order of the nation. They visit colleges and universities, parent’s organizations and local communities. They also explain the benefits, training opportunities as well as the exciting life in the military chain of command.


The usual duties and responsibilities of Recruiting Specialists in the military chain of command include:

• Conduct interviews and persuade civilians wishing to join military life

• Present military life and careers to groups and other youth groups in schools

• Present the mission and vision of Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) to local communities and students

• Join other groups in conducting military job fairs to promote the recruitment services of the organization

• Present the military chain of command in credible youth groups in the community

• Give advice to military personnel regarding career performance

Ideal traits

The field of study which is helpful in this kind of job in the military includes:

• Excellent ability in holding public speaking engagements which involves youth groups and other private youth organizations in the community

• Excellent skills in working and coordinating with youth groups in the communities as well as in schools

• The skills to work independently without help from others

Training opportunities

Classroom instructions as well as actual experience in related jobs are ideal training for this job. Course contents which are also advisable are:

• Processes and procedures in handling actual recruitment activities

• Strategies and specifics on conducting actual interview on applicants

Work atmosphere

The Recruitment Specialists in the military organization work in offices. They also work outdoors especially during actual recruitment days since they transfer from places to places within the community, schools and other venues.

Non-military employment

The civilian Recruitment Specialists work in human recruitment agencies, private offices, career centers, and schools. Their duties and responsibilities are only the same with that of the military.
